Nizamabad: If women are economically empowered, then their families will be developed, then the district and the State, stated Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Minister of Transport, Roads and Buildings and Legislative Affairs. He distributed Stree Nidhi cheques at Bheemgal town on Thursday.Later speaking on the occasion, the Minister said if a woman earns even a single rupee, she will spend it for the family. But the men will spend not even half of their earned amount for the family. After observing this, the State government is encouraging women to earn by providing financial subsidy, he said. He directed the officials to provide loans to 400 women through Srinidhi next year and if necessary, provide training to women in various occupations and provide adequate credit. “We aim to provide loans worth Rs 195 lakhs in the current financial year. Of this, Rs 45 lakhs have already distributed to 122 women. The remaining Rs 150 lakhs will be given to 300 women as loan,” Reddy explained. He said that there is no limit on Srinidhi’s credit and suggested the women,who took loans, to use invest it in manufacturing sector. Prashant Reddy said Rs 25 crores has been sanctioned to take up various developmental works. Proposals have been prepared to undertake roads, internal roads and drainage works at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crores, he added.
