He has also spent time talking to staff, volunteers and patients at the Hospice and we are extremely grateful to him for his consistent support of ourwork.” The MP’s past support includes donating his £8,800 fee from presenting “Have I Got News For You?” in the first series of the TV comedy show after Angus Deaton left the programme. The Inverness-based Highland Hospice is within Mr Kennedy’s constituency and is the Highlands’ biggest charitable service. It needs to raise £29,000 a week to fund its care for patients and families from throughout the Highlands and parts of Moray. Liberal Democrat Party leader Charles Kennedy MP has selected two Christmas cards from the Highland Hospice’s catalogue for his official personal Christmas cards this year.Mr Kennedy selected two cards by local photographers and produced by the Highland Hospice. One, by Alex Gillespie, depicts a snow-covered croft at Glencoe near Inverness and the other, by Duncan I McEwan, is of Ben Nevis. They feature Christmas greetings in both English and Gaelic and are signed by Mr Kennedy and his wife Sarah. Neither photographer charged the Hospice.The two cards are part of range sold by the Highland Hospice. Last year the charity sold 200,000 Christmas cards in the Highlands, almost one for every person in the entire population.
