Willis Knuckles’ Funeral Saturday

first_imgThe funeral of Mr. Willis D. Knuckles, Jr., former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs; former Public Works Minister; former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports; and former president of the Liberia Football Association, is scheduled to take place this Saturday, August 16, 2014, in Careysburg, Montserrado County, the place of his birth.Mr. Knuckles died on July 28, 2014 while seeking medical attention in Accra, Ghana, following a brief illness.  He was in his 69th year.According to his brother Gabriel E. Knuckles III and son Willis D. Knuckles, III, the body will be removed from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Parlor, at 8 o’clock a.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2014 and transported to the Seys United Methodist Church at Mount Vorblee, Careysburg, where wake keeping will commence at 9:30 a.m.The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 o’clock a.m., followed by interment in the Knuckles Cemetery in Knucklesville, Careysburg.Willis DeFrancis Knuckles was born on June 29, 1946, to the union of Mr. Willis D. Knuckles I of Careysburg, and Mrs. Ethel Dunbar Knuckles, daughter of the legendary Liberian agriculturist, engineer, builder and father, George Dunbar.A graduate of the College of West Africa and Cuttington College and Divinity School (now Cuttington University), Willis first worked with the Department of State (now Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and later served as Chief of Staff of Vice President James E. Greene.Willis, Jr. leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mrs. Ethel Dunbar Wah; his wife, Hawa; his children, Hawa-Ellen, Willis III (Marie) and Ethel Virginia; grandchildren,  Samuel Willis and Nala Myriam;  his siblings Bushin, Gabriel, Raymond, Marie, William Papa, Benedict, Pitman, Emma, Monigo, Estella, Mawolo Fella, Bob; and a host of relatives and friends.
