4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout dave copeland A good smartphone pedometer tracks how close you’re coming your fitness goal, but finding the right one is the first step. Read on for our recommendation on the best of the best. There i slew of studies suggesting that taking 10,000 steps a day is the easiest way to maintain a healthy weight while avoiding glucose spikes and serious disease. Yet most Americans take fewer than 5,000 steps. The American Heart Association’s 10,000-steps recommendation is daunting for sedentary people — it means finding time to walk about five miles per day. Fortunately, a pedometer can make it easier (or serve as a wake up call if you are consistently falling well below 10,000).iTreadmill crashed too often in our tests. The app seems to be striving to do too much and most of the problems came when we tried to listen to music while using the app on our morning walk. We liked the fun interface on iSteps but had some concerns about the accuracy of the count. We (and, according to reviews, several others) noticed it would occasionally stop counting our steps. iWalk was easy and worked well enough, but it had no history function, and it frequently reset itself, particularly when we took a call.A word of warning: All of these apps we reviewed taxed our smartphone’s battery. Also, many will not differentiate between walking and, say, riding in a car. Get yourself in the habit of pausing the step count when you sit down. Our Recommendation: Pedometer FREE Related Posts You will see the occasional advertisement, including pitches to try some of the other apps offered by Arawella, maker of Pedometer FREE. But that did not deter from our experience (we’re closing in on 500,000 steps for the summer). More advanced features include easy access to our music library without leaving the app and advanced weight- and body-change tracking. Tags:#Reviews#web Like the name suggests, this app has the added bonus of being free (all of the others we tested were $1.99 and up), but in our tests, Pedometer FREE broke the “you get what you pay for” rule. It was far and away the most accurate app, and gave us all of the features we wanted (maps, history, legible displays and social networking). 9 Books That Make Perfect Gifts for Industry Ex… 12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People…
Categories: Vaupel News I recently joined Congressman Mike Bishop as he hosted a public presentation and discussion on the opioid crisis. The event was held at Putnam Township Hall, and I served as a panelist alongside other local officials. I explained some of the original contributors to the crisis and discussed solutions to improve the situation moving forward. Thank you to Congressman Bishop for organizing the event and all the community leaders who contributed to the conversation. I also appreciate everyone who attended and shared their thoughts and ideas.***I attended a presentation on the outbreak of Hepatitis A put together by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Michigan is one of three states currently facing an outbreak of this potentially fatal disease. This is an important issue that must be addressed, and I am thankful for the hard work being done by these departments. For more information, you can contact your Health Department.***I had the opportunity to present a state tribute to Dr. Jackie Scott who is retiring as director at the Bureau of EMS, Trauma and Preparedness. Dr. Scott is a resident of Livingston County and a national leader in the field of emergency preparedness. We are proud of her excellent work and want to thank her for her dedicated service to the people of Michigan! We live in a safer state because of her leadership.***Last Friday, I was present for a stirring tribute to volunteers of Meals on Wheels. They provide a tremendous service to our senior citizens, and it was good to see them be recognized. Thank you for selflessly helping those in need in our community.***Downtown Howell has been selected as the 2018 Great American Main Street Award winner, and I was proud to attend the celebration for this prestigious honor. This award further indicates the great community spirit here in Livingston County, and I look forward to even more success for Howell and the rest of the county in the future. Great job to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen!***If you have any ideas, comments or questions for my office, please do not hesitate to call us at 517-373-8835 or send an email to HankVaupel@house.mi.gov. FIFA 19 has ‘broken viewership records’, claims publisher Electronic Arts (EA).According to the publisher, the game’s esports component – the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series – generated more than 680 million minutes watched and 61 million total views. This represents an annual increase of 60% and 25% respectively.EA puts this growth down to many factors, including the expansion of the Global Series from eight official league partners to 17. The publisher also says that introduction og the FIFA eNations Cup also helped to draw viewers.Brent Koning, FIFA competitive gaming commissioner, said: “We’re thrilled to see a global community rally around the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series in such monumental ways.“Our partnerships with FIFA, UEFA and 17 world-class football leagues elevates our connection to the traditional sport driving unprecedented player and spectator engagement. Now, we watch the top 128 players that qualified for the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs compete in pursuit of becoming world champion at the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019.”Christian Volk, director of eFootball and Gaming at FIFA added: “The continuous increase in viewership underlines the huge interest in competitive FIFA and the importance of eSports in the ongoing growth of football across the world,” said “We are looking forward to welcoming the best 32 EA SPORTS FIFA 19 players to the FIFA eWorld Cup this summer and crowning the ultimate champion of this record-breaking season.”The FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs start with the Xbox ladder on July 5-7 in Hamburg, Germany, and the PlayStation 4 bracket occurring July 12-14 in Berlin, Germany. Both events will be broadcast on the EA Sports Twitch channel, and YouTube channel.
